1890s Opal and Rose Cut Diamond Earrings, 14K Yellow Gold, $1795
These were a major restoration project. I found it as a ring, but it clearly had been made out of a beautiful old pair of Victorian earrings. Before the days of laser soldering, jewelers often used lead solder for repairing jewelry with heat sensitive stones like opals. Lead has ruined boatloads of antique jewelry. The ring as I found it was a big old mess of lead solder. So our jeweler carefully removed all the lead and restored them back to earrings.
